【Predecessors release medicine】

"Compendium of Materia Medica": Bletilla striata is astringent and astringent in nature, so it can enter the lungs to stop bleeding, promote tissue regeneration and treat sores.

"Ben Cao Jing Shu" says: Bletilla striata is bitter and can dissipate heat, and pungent and can dissipate knots. Carbuncle and ulcer are caused by the failure of the nourishing qi to follow the flow and go against the flesh; carbuncle and ulcer that injure the yin and dead muscle are all caused by heat congestion and blood stasis, so it is the main treatment for all of them. Evil qi in the stomach is evil heat; evil wind and prickly heat that are slow to heal are all caused by heat in the blood and damp heat that injures the yin. If it enters the blood to dissipate heat, dissipate knots and expel rot, then all symptoms will be cured.

"Compendium of Materia Medica": Bletilla striata is a medicine for astringing qi, permeating phlegm, stopping bleeding, and eliminating carbuncle. This medicine is extremely sticky, astringent, bitter and cold, and is good at entering the lung meridian. For those with damaged lung lobes and diseases caused by heat congestion and blood stasis, grind this into powder and take it every day. It can strengthen the lungs, seal the damage, eliminate carbuncle, support the ulcer, remove dead muscle, and clean pus and blood. It has the wonderful effect of supporting the old and giving birth to the new. If the lung qi is depressed, there is phlegm, fire, and blood, which are confused and gathered in the lung orifices and trachea. This is because of the whole body's airway. It straightens and clears the lungs, lowers the reverse qi, clears the phlegm and blood, and the fire subsides. If this medicine is used alone, it will be sticky and blocking, and it will be useless.

"Ben Cao Jing Bai Zhong Lu" says: Bletilla striata has a mild and peaceful smell, and a smooth and sticky texture. It can nourish and soften the tendons and bones, and harmonize with the positive energy, so that the minor evils will retreat.

"Ben Cao Qiu Zhen": Bai Ji, the prescription book says that it can enter the lungs to stop bleeding, and it also says that it can treat broken bones caused by falls, burns caused by hot water or fire, malignant sores, carbuncle, and dead muscles. Isn't it like it can stop bleeding, like it can stop bleeding, and it is because of its astringent nature; the book says that it can treat carbuncle and injury, and it is because of its pungent taste and can disperse. This medicine has dispersing properties while astringent, and it has breaking properties while replenishing, so the book also says that it can remove rot, expel blood stasis, and promote new growth.

"Chongqingtang Essays": Bletilla striata is the most sticky, and can greatly nourish the lungs. It can be used as a medicine to treat upper damage. If the heat is not cleared, it should not be used early, because its astringent nature may retain the evil. However, if the taste is too bitter, it is better to use sweet flavors as a supplement, and sweetness can linger on the diaphragm. It is also better to dissolve it in the mouth, so that it can slowly moisten down the throat, and the effect will be more sensitive. The method is to grind Bletilla striata into fine powder, make white honey pills as big as longan, and hold it in the mouth before lying down, or grind it with raw licorice and make pills with sweet pear juice. If there is a lot of phlegm and cough for a long time, add Bletilla striata and grind it into powder, and make honey pills to dissolve it in the mouth.

"Ben Cao Bian Du" says: Baiji is suitable for those who are weak and have heat. Although it has astringent properties, it still has the bitter, pungent and dispersing properties, which is similar to Baishen, so they are often used together.

"Ben Cao Zheng Yi": Bai Ji, "Ben Jing" treats carbuncle, malignant ulcer, gangrene, and yin injury and dead muscle, "Bie Lu" treats white ringworm and scabies, all of which are about external application of carbuncle and mixed with medicine. It tastes bitter and pungent and has a cold air, so it can dissipate carbuncle caused by blood heat; it is sticky and oily, so it can treat dead muscle caused by gangrene; bitter and pungent products can kill insects, so it can treat white ringworm, scabies, and external ulcer swelling and regeneration. For those who treat evil spirits in the stomach, bitter and cold products can remove stomach heat. However, the meaning of the thief wind and prickly heat is not clear, so I dare not force it. Bai Ji treats lung abscesses, and people often doubt that it is greasy and stagnant and dare not use it. However, the bitter and cold nature can clear the lungs and stomach, and can also replenish injuries. If it is not the time when the flames are extremely strong, and the smell of stinky phlegm and foul smell has retreated, it can be used to replenish and clear, and will not help phlegm and stay. It is comparable to Er Dong and Yu Zhu.

Precautions for making Chinese herbal medicine:

    1. The medicine jar must be cleaned

When decocting Chinese medicine, the medicinal juice is concentrated due to evaporation of water, and a layer of medicinal scale often accumulates at the bottom and around the medicine pot. If the decocted medicine in the medicine pot is often changed, and the accumulated medicinal scale is not wiped off in time, the medicinal scale will dissolve when the new medicine is decocted, interfering with and reducing the efficacy of the medicine, and even delaying the treatment of the disease. Especially if highly toxic medicines or external medicines that cannot be eaten have been decocted before, it may cause poisoning.

In addition, if the Chinese medicine is not cleaned immediately after each decoction, the scale at the bottom of the medicine pot will become thicker and thicker, and it will easily burn when the medicine is re-decocted, thus losing its efficacy.

    2. Whether to cover the medicine

Generally speaking, in order to make Chinese medicine boil thoroughly, it is best to cover it. This is especially true for Chinese medicines containing volatile ingredients, such as mint, patchouli, and perilla leaves, and they should be boiled in a short time to prevent the active ingredients from volatilizing. For some expensive medicines, such as ginseng, deer antler, and wolfberry, the active ingredients should be fully released.

Some Chinese herbal medicines are light in weight and large in size, such as Centella asiatica, Prunella vulgaris, White tongcao, Loofah, Corn hair, etc., so they should not be decocted with the lid on, otherwise they will often overflow from the pot. You can decoct with the lid on and stir at any time.

    3. Fry thoroughly and squeeze dry

"Decoction thoroughly" means that the active ingredients of the medicine are fully released, which is the basic requirement for decoction. For medicines with tough texture and difficult to release active ingredients at once, only by decoction separately, decocting first, decocting for a long time, etc. can the medicine juice be thickened and the efficacy be fully exerted. Medicines with loose texture and light and fragrant nature do not need to be decocted for too long; but herbs with light texture and large body should be stirred frequently to facilitate decoction.
