Li Gao: Adding Radix Rehmanniae and Cortex Moutan to Siwu Decoction is the best way to treat bone steaming in women . Radix Rehmanniae is used to treat sweating and bone steaming in Shaoyin and Shaoyang meridians of the foot.
"Compendium of Materia Medica": The benefits of wolfberry are not limited to the seeds, and the roots are not limited to reducing fever. However, the smell of the roots, seedlings, and seeds is slightly different, and their main treatments may not be the same. The seedlings are the essence of heaven, bitter, sweet and cool, suitable for those with heat in the upper heart and lungs; the roots are the bones of the earth, sweet, light and cold, suitable for those with deficiency heat in the liver and kidneys in the lower burner. These are all medicines for the three burners and qi, so-called heat in the body, which can be relieved with sweet and cold. As for the seeds, they are sweet, mild and moist, and nourishing and tonic. They cannot reduce fever, but can only nourish the kidneys and moisten the lungs, produce essence and benefit qi. This is a medicine for flat tonic, so-called deficiency of essence can be supplemented with flavor. If they are used separately, they have their own main functions, and if they are used together, they can kill two birds with one stone. People only know to use Scutellaria baicalensis and Coptis chinensis to treat upper-burner fire, and Phellodendron chinense and Anemarrhena asphodeloides to treat lower-burner Yin fire, which is called tonifying Yin and reducing fire. Long-term use will damage the vital energy, but they don’t know that Lycium barbarum and Radix Rehmanniae are sweet and cold, which can replenish the essence and reduce the evil fire. What a pity! I have tried using Artemisia annua and Radix Rehmanniae to reduce fever, and it has repeatedly achieved extraordinary results, which people have never understood.
"Bencao Huiyan": Wang Shaolong said that heat in the bones is a problem, and the true yin should be decocted with the bone bark of the rehmannia root, which is sweet, cold, clear and moist, without any mud or stagnation. It is not the same as Rehmannia root and Ophiopogon japonicus.
"Compendium of Materia Medica": Di Gu Pi is the root of wolfberry. The southern ones are slightly bitter and slightly sweet and spicy, while the northern ones are very bitter and inferior. The southern ones are the best for medicine. It is pungent and cold in nature, good at entering the blood, and is most suitable for those who are not due to wind and cold but have heat in the essence and yin. This thing is cool but not harsh, and can cure fatigue. It has a light and pungent Qi , so it can also clear the lungs .
"Pharmaceuticals" says: Radix Rehmanniae can remove the external pathogenic factors of uncertainty and internal sweat and bone steaming, regulate the head wind, remove the chest and flank qi, and relieve the large and small intestines. It is effective. It is added to Xiebaisan to clear the lungs and regulate qi, and treat cough caused by excess lung heat; it can be used with blood-nourishing medicine to strengthen yin and relieve muscles, and regulate the skin scorch caused by insufficient sores and acne. Because of its extremely cold nature, it is most effective to treat damp-heat jaundice when decocted with wine for two liang. Peony bark can remove heat from the blood, and Radix Rehmanniae can remove heat from the qi, so they should be used separately.
"New Compendium of Materia Medica": Radix Rehmanniae is not comparable to Phellodendron chinense and Rhizoma Anemarrhenae. Although Radix Rehmanniae enters the kidney , it does not cool the kidney. It only enters the kidney and cools the bones . Cooling the kidney will inevitably lead to kidney damage and stomach injury, while cooling bones can benefit the kidney and produce marrow. Phellodendron chinense and Rhizoma Anemarrhenae will damage the kidney and stomach , so they must not be used too much to cause failure. Radix Rehmanniae can benefit the kidney and produce marrow, so they must not be used too little to achieve results. To relieve the symptoms of Yin deficiency and fire movement, bone steaming and fatigue fever, use Yin-tonifying medicine, add Radix Rehmanniae or five coins or one ounce , so that the marrow in the bones can be cooled and the heat in the bones can be removed.
"Compendium of Materia Medica": Zhu Eryun said, "People know that Radix Rehmanniae can dissipate internal dampness, but they don't know that it can dissipate external dampness. If the disease is caused by wind and cold but not completely dissipated, and the dampness comes and goes, it cannot be cured by Chaihu and Ge. Use Radix Rehmanniae, a medicine that can go to the surface and the inside, to eliminate the floating evil. There is no one who has not recovered after taking it, so I specially point it out."
"Essential Chinese Medicines" says: Danxi said that the reason why Rehmannia root bark can cure wind is that it cures both the liver and kidney. If the liver is hot, it will naturally generate wind, which is different from the wind caused by external factors. When the heat subsides, the wind will subside. Rehmannia root bark is not a drug that enters the liver. Danxi said so because the liver and kidney are in the same position and can be treated together. Since Rehmannia root bark can reduce the deficiency heat of the kidney, the dragon fire will not be blazing, and the thunder fire will also be calm. It can naturally stop the wind caused by liver heat. Although it does not enter the liver meridian, it can also treat liver wind. Moreover, Rehmannia root bark enters the kidney and triple burner meridians, but it does not enter the liver, let alone the lungs. Even if the latent fire in the lungs can be reduced, there is no need to doubt that the liver wind cannot be stopped. In short, kidney medicine also treats the liver, and Yi and Gui have the same origin. Kidney medicine also treats the lungs, and metal and water contain each other.
"Compendium of Materia Medica: Gouyuan": Radix Digupi can enrich the source of true yin without hurting the original yang, so it is special with bitter and cold ones. There is fire in the true yin of ordinary people, which steams and burns, and there is sweat and bone steaming, so it should be treated in this way. It should be noted that this flavor does not nourish blood, but is dedicated to nourishing yin. Although it can remove heat, it does not use it to purge fire. It is said that those who benefit yin can purge fire, but if they just use it to purge fire, then this flavor is dedicated to removing heat and cannot treat deficiency. The virtual restlessness after the illness, the reading pills for forgetfulness, the heart-nourishing pills for insufficient heart qi, palpitations and forgetfulness, and the clear heart lotus seed drink for red and white turbidity, can they be called purge fire? Some people say that this flavor treats wind, and wind is transformed by the lustful qi of the yang, so why not call it purge fire? I don’t know that nourishing yin qi can retreat the virtual yang of the three burners, but only make yin qi to be yang guard, and the treatment effect is always completed with yin qi. There are those who are not sick because of weak yin and strong yang, but only because of insufficient yin qi, and this can also be used as a nourishing source. Therefore, in the treatment of various symptoms, we must understand this meaning.
"Corrections to Tibetan Medicine Formulas" states: Radix Digu, can clear the heat in the bones and drain the fire downward, and compared to mulberry bark, it is even better in coldness and coolness. It can clear the heat in the lungs, guide the qi fire, and also lead the moisture of the skin to flow downward, without being too dry and damaging the body fluids or depleting the vital energy, which is similar to mulberry bark. The root bark of Chinese wolfberry is bitter, cold, and clear, and it goes directly into the liver and kidneys in the lower part of the body, and can treat bone steaming and internal heat, and the smell is clear, so it does not destroy the true yang and damage the vital energy, but it is ultimately a product of clearing and cooling, and has no nourishing ability.
