It is mainly used to treat high fever and coma caused by fever, stroke, phlegm, convulsions, epilepsy, summer heat and dampness obstructing the clear orifices, throat paralysis and deafness, mouth sores and swollen teeth, sores, carbuncles, malnutrition, hemorrhoids, red and swollen eyes, and cataracts covering the eyes. For patients with phlegm and fire stagnation, throat paralysis and hoarseness, or heat stagnation, mouth sores and swollen teeth, borneol can be combined with cinnabar, borax, and Xuanming powder to blow and apply to the affected area to disperse heat and detoxify.
 For those suffering from heat-induced coma, borneol can be used in combination with musk, bezoar, coptis root, turmeric, etc. to clear away heat and open the orifices.
