【Usage and Dosage】Decoction, 3-10g. For external use in appropriate amount.

[Contraindications] People with yin deficiency and blood heat should not take it.

"Ben Jing": "It is used to treat red and white discharge in women, blood retention and swelling of the genitals, cold and heat, wind in the head (head wind), tearing of the eyes, and nourishing the skin and moisturizing it."

"Bie Lu": "It is used to treat wind-evil-induced long-term thirst (long-term thirst may also be called 'long-term diarrhea'), vomiting, fullness in the ribs, wind pain, dizziness, and itchy eyes."

"Medicinal Properties": "It can treat heart and abdomen blood stabbing pain, eliminate wind evil, treat women's uterine bleeding and vomiting, improve eyesight, stop tears, treat women's bleeding, waist and abdominal pain; it can erode pus."

"Rihuazi Bencao": "It can treat red eyes, pterygium, and repair miscarriage, break up old blood, replenish new blood, breast abscess, back hair, scrofula, intestinal wind, hemorrhoids, fistula, discharge pus, sores, scabies, relieve pain, promote tissue regeneration, and remove facial wrinkles and scars."

"Southern Yunnan Materia Medica": "It removes wandering wind on the skin, stops cold stomach and abdominal pain, and cold and dampness pain all over the body."

"Compendium of Materia Medica": "It can treat sinusitis, epistaxis, toothache, pain in the brow bone, constipation due to wind in the large intestine, blood in the urine, dizziness due to blood and wind in women, vomiting and vomiting; it can also treat arsenic poisoning, snake bites, and wounds caused by knives, arrows, and metal wounds."

"Compendium of Materia Medica": "Angelica dahurica is white in color and pungent in taste. It travels through the hand yangming meridian. It is warm in nature and thick in qi. It travels through the foot yangming meridian. Its fragrance reaches upward and enters the hand taiyin lung meridian. Diseases of the head, eyes, eyebrows, and teeth are caused by wind-heat in the three meridians. Diseases of leukorrhea, leukorrhea, and carbuncle are caused by damp-heat in the three meridians. Wind-heat can be dispersed by pungent herbs, and damp-heat can be eliminated by warm herbs. As the main drug for the yangming meridian, it can also treat blood diseases and fetal diseases, and discharge pus, promote tissue regeneration, and relieve pain. It can treat sinusitis, toothache, bloody urine, pain in the brow bone, constipation caused by wind in the large intestine, dizziness caused by blood and wind in women, and vomiting of food. It can also treat arsenic poisoning, snake bites, nosebleeds, and wounds caused by knives, arrows, and metal wounds."  

"Ben Cao Jing Shu": Angelica dahurica is pungent, warm and non-toxic, with a strong aroma, and is also a fragrant grass. It enters the Yangming and Taiyin meridians of the hands and feet, and moves the qi and blood . It rises more than it descends, and is yang. It is good at dispelling wind and can corrode pus, so it is used to treat red and white discharge in women. It is pungent to disperse it, and warm to harmonize it. Its fragrance enters the spleen, so it is used to treat blood stasis, swelling of the genitals, cold and heat, and head wind invading the eyes and tears. It is pungent and fragrant to disperse knots and enter the blood to stop pain, so it grows the skin. It is fragrant and pungent, so it can moisturize. It is pungent and warm to disperse, so it can treat long-term diarrhea caused by wind evil, and wind can overcome dampness. It enters the spleen, so it stops vomiting. It can treat wind pain in the ribs, dizziness and itchy eyes, and it has the effect of dispelling wind.

"Compendium of Materia Medica Records" states: "All medicines that dispel wind will not consume semen. White angelica root is very fragrant and can dispel wind and dry dampness. It is also very smooth and can harmonize blood vessels without drying up the semen. It is beneficial and harmless when used. The ancients used medicines by knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the medicines. They then looked at the blood and qi of the person and the symptoms of the disease, combined them for research, and made decisions. Therefore, they were able to achieve significant effects without hidden harm. This is what scholars have devoted their efforts to.

"Bencao Qiuzhen" says: "Angelica dahurica has a strong warming effect, can open the orifices and move to the surface, and is the main medicine for dispelling wind and dampness in the foot yangming meridian. Therefore, it can treat all diseases of the head and face of the yangming meridian, such as headache, pain in the brow bone, pain in the gums, and black scars on the face. Moreover, its wind and heat invade the lungs, scorch the brain, and seep into the deep mucus; it moves to the large intestine, turning into uterine bleeding, blood retention, intestinal wind, hemorrhoids, fistulas, and carbuncle; wind and damp heat, when they occur on the skin, turn into sores, dryness, and itching; they can warm and disperse, and remove the wind in the skin, and eliminate the carbuncle and swelling. It is truly an important medicine for dispelling wind and dampness and fire."
